Langtry Manor is set amidst the tree lined streets of the East Cliff, offering all the elegance of a country retreat yet just a short stroll from the heart of Bournemouth and the sea.
Built in 1877 by the Prince of Wales, later to become King Edward VII, for his mistress Lillie Langtry the house is unique in Bournemouth. Designed by Lillie herself and executed in the style of a Victorian country house it retains many of its original features – balconied bedrooms, carved fireplaces, mullioned windows and elegant staircases – it is easy to immerse yourself in the style and elegance of a bygone age from the moment you arrive. Yet Langtry Manor also boasts 14 individually designed and recently refurbished bedrooms with all modern amenities, add to that our elegant dining salon offering freshly prepared dishes to suit all tastes and a relaxing drawing room and bar in which to enjoy a drink or afternoon tea – Langtry Manor provides the perfect haven.
If you want to discover more of the history of the hotel, our Langtry Collection, set on the first floor of the hotel explores the life of Lillie – actress, entrepreneur, model and confidante to a Prince. Many notable figures of the day were also entertained at Langtry Manor, or the Red House as the Prince and Lillie liked to call it. Our staff will be pleased to show you some of the hidden features unique to the house as well.
“Beautiful Historic Hotel in Bournemouth – Well-Presented Rooms – Welcoming Staff” | Reviewed April 2017
I’ve booked this hotel numerous times for work over the past four months and whether I book a single night or multiple nights I’m always treated like a valued guest. The team remembers me and certain staff even remember what I like for dinner.
The rooms are traditionally furnished and beautifully presented. There is parking on-site and it’s easy to walk to the local amenities if you need to stretch your legs after work. If you don’t want to leave the hotel in the evening, the restaurant serves good food and decent quality meat and a cooked to order breakfast in the morning.
I highly recommend them and would be confident bringing both family and business associates here.
